The primary aim of this portal is to increase quality footfall for everyone by attracting each segment's footfall to another.. the churches, village halls, playgrounds, local places or points of interest and businesses.
The idea behind this portal is to create a high quality, easy to use, visual exploration portal of the Oxfordshire county, so if one type of business or amenity attracts one person and exposes other businesses and amenities nearby, collectively it would have a big exponential rise in the footfall. This portal is unlike any other directory out there. Not only can you find out information, you can virtually see and make an informed decision on attractiveness and suitability. Especially for play areas, you can see where to park your car and if any toilet facilities exist nearby.
If you are a business or an amenity interested in being listed on this portal, please get in touch with Nikhilesh by calling on 07929305247 or emailing .
A local photographer friend, Chris Baines, specialising in TV and Film Photography, commissioned me to photograph the Dorchester Abbey in 360° back in 2009. Since then I did few other projects, but nothing on a major scale. In 2011, Google came out with a new program called Google Business View, which extends Google Street View 360° Virtual tours inside business premises. In June 2012, I got certified and became an independent contractor. To get business under this program, I had to visit various places and corners of Oxfordshire, meeting business owners, attending networking meetings etc. Since I was already in the area, I started seeking out interesting features of that part of Oxfordshire and given my background as an architect with particular interest in heritage, the churches stood out prominently. Best of all, most of these churches are open doors providing easy access to everyone to explore. I started photographing the magnificient interiors of these churches in 360° after seeking permission where possible. Soon I had a collection of 30+ churches and thought it would be great to place them on an easy to access map of Oxfordshire showing clickable markers linking them to the 360° panoramas and virtual tours. The first cut of this website was purely focused on the churches of Oxfordshire still available to view here. Looking into the sustainability side for maintaining and growing this expanding resource on this website, I have now extended it to showcase the play areas, attractions, places of interest and businesses in 360° leading to the aim described above.
